More Gluten-Free Resources

I am becoming more and more interested in the gluten-free industry, so please bear with me as I write another gluten-free blog post.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again. Gluten-free eating will become a household name within the next two years – everyone will know about it! Here are some of the new things I came across just this past week.

1. Yesterday I stopped by Deby’s Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe in Denver and chatted with Monica, the owner. King Soopers (Kroger) is now selling many of her products. She is taking her gluten-free foods to a national market and her new company name is 8 Free Foods. It was great to meet her!

2. LARABARS, all gluten-free and my favorite snack food can now be purchased in participating 7-Elevan stores around the country.

3. Enjoy Life Cookies will be Rachael Ray’s gluten-free snack of the day on her daytime show Monday, February 18th, 2008. Click here for show times.

4. The Celiac Chick Blog just posted the nationwide celiac events and programs for 2008. I am definitely going to go to the Gluten-Free Baking Invitational in Denver this April. The Third Annual Gluten-Free Culinary Summit in Providence, Rhode Island this September looks intriguing as well; hmmm…maybe I’ll go?

5. Martha Stewart ran a contest for “Big Ideas” in her company and the allergy-free/gluten free magazine idea won!!! Check out the winning presentation.

6. The New York Times had an article yesterday about couples who work through different food needs in the midst of a relationship. Shauna James Ahern, author of Gluten Free Girl (see my blog post about her) was featured in the article.

7. I just discovered the San Diego Gluten-Free group . They have great on-line resources regarding which US restaurants cater to gluten-free customers; even Disney World.

Okay, that was one week of gluten-free information that I came across. Keep your eyes and ears open for gluten-free things in your city. Email me: jolene@healthydiscoveries.com and let me know what you find, I’m fascinated with the explosion in this industry!
