I often recommend journal writing as a resource for emotional health and balance. Here is a writing conference that is coming to Colorado the summer of 2008.
Kathleen Adams, director of the Journal Therapy Center in Denver, is one of the conference facilitators. I respect Kathleen’s work; I have also participated in her local writing groups. She is a compassionate therapist and a wise teacher, her books on journaling are practical and user friendly.
James Pennebaker, Psychology Department Chair, at the University of Texas, Austin is another one of the many facilitators at the conference. Pennebaker is a noted journal writing researcher and studies the positive impact of “getting negative emotions off your chest”. Pennebaker has found writing helps people let go of emotional trauma, grief, and stress more quickly and easily.
All in all the four day line-up of six mix-and-match sessions (writing, therapy, healing/wellness, memoir/life story, spirituality, and writing in community) looks great! It is definitely worth a trip to Denver this summer.
